Tips for Purchasing an Above Ground Pool
Choosing the right above ground pool to purchase doesn’t have to be a complicated task. Shape, size, and material are essential factors in your decision.
Shape
Above Ground pools are typically designed in one of two shapes: oval or round. Round pools come in sizes ranging from 12 ft to 33 ft in diameter. Sizes increase in increments of 3 feet, giving you choices including 12 ft, 15 ft, 18 ft, 21 ft, 24 ft, 27 ft, 30 ft, and 33 ft in diameter. Oval pools can be purchased in sizes ranging from 8’x12’ to 21’x43’. Popular oval pool sizes include 12’x24’, 15’x24’, 15’x30’, and 18x40’. Another consideration to mull over is the height of your pool. Today’s above ground pools are built up to 52 or 54 inches.
Size
The best way to choose the right pool size for your yard is to do a quick measurement of the space you have designated for a pool area. Keep in mind that pool measurements are measurements of the inside (water side) dimensions. You should allow at least 3 extra feet of space on each side of an oval pool while round pools need at least one extra foot of space to fit in the proposed pool area.
Material
Material should also factor into your purchase decision. Above Ground pools are made with resin top or steel top ledges. Resin top pools offer superior durability and freedom from corrosion, which makes them ideal for those who plan to build a deck surrounding the pool. Steel-top pools are more affordable yet still durable thanks to special coating that seals away exposure from the elements and prevents corrosion.
